Shaping Your Smile with Lasers

One of the most recent - and dramatic - improvements in dental technology is Laser Dentistry.

In our office we use the Waterlase® by Biolase® to replace many of dentistry's less pleasant tools with laser-energized water droplets. We use our lasers on both the hard and soft tissue of your mouth to help clean periodontal pockets and kill bacteria during periodontal therapy, heal ulcers and cold sores, perform gentle frenectomies, even remove decay and prepare teeth for fillings, often without the need for anesthesia.

Lasers are extremely accurate, delivering energy only to target areas and giving us pinpoint precision. This is especially important since most of the work we do on gums or other soft tissue is very specific.

Perhaps the most amazing and gentle use of the laser occurs in gum recontouring. "Gummy smiles," or smiles in which the gums cover too much of the teeth, are a very common problem caused by overgrowth of the gum tissue. Lasers easily and comfortably recontour gums to reveal a wider, more desirable smile. Some people think of gum contouring with a laser as plastic surgery for the smile!

No matter what laser procedure you need, you can relax in the fact that lasers allow your procedure to be much less invasive. There is no cutting and there are no sutures. In fact, lasers are actually healing. They stimulate blood in the work area, which has a cauterizing effect to make the process cleaner, shorten healing time and lessen pain.  It means you will look better, feel better and be better - fast!
